At Grow Together WNC, we believe that art, music, and movement can bring us back to each other—especially in times of hardship. In the aftermath of COVID, the challenges of parenting in today’s world, and the deep impact Hurricane Helene has left on our communities, we are creating spaces where families can gather, heal, and reconnect.
This September, we’re hosting Hope Takes Flight, a free, family-friendly community artmaking event where people of all ages will create butterflies as symbols of resilience, growth, and connection. These butterflies will come together in a larger installation to honor our collective strength and remind us that healing is possible when we lift one another up.
Event Dates:
Sunday, September 7 | 3-5pm
Highland Brewing Company (outdoor picnic tables near the play area)
Saturday, September 20 | 10-12pm Arden Library
What to Expect:
Hands-on artmaking for children, parents, grandparents, and caregivers
Music and movement activities that invite joy and connection
A safe, welcoming, 100% grassroots, volunteer-run environment
Free and open to the public
Where Artists Come In
We’re calling on local artists of all kinds—visual artists, musicians, dancers, poets, storytellers, and beyond—to partner with us in bringing this vision to life. Whether you’d like to lead an activity, share your talents during the event, or help us imagine future creative offerings, your contribution could make a lasting difference for families who need moments of beauty, grounding, and hope.
Why Get Involved?
Build relationships with families and community members in WNC
Share your art in a meaningful, healing context
Join a collaborative network of local artists, helpers, and dreamers
Know that your involvement is directly giving back to the community—our events are volunteer-run, and any donations go right back into supporting more free art, movement, and music gatherings
Looking Ahead
While these two September events are our starting point, Grow Together WNC is looking to build ongoing collaborations with artists, musicians, and community partners. If you have a vision for how your creative gifts could support families and community healing, we’d love to co-create future projects together.
