Hope Takes Flight: Community Butterfly Art-Making

This September, join us for Hope Takes Flight, a pair of free family-friendly art-making events to honor our community’s resilience one year after Hurricane Helene.

Families, children, and neighbors are invited to gather in creativity, healing, and connection as we create butterflies—symbols of hope, strength, and transformation.

Why Butterflies?

Butterflies remind us of the power of transformation. Just as our community has weathered challenges—COVID, economic struggles, and the devastating storm—our creative spirit helps us emerge with resilience, strength, and connection.

By making butterflies together, we celebrate not only what we’ve endured, but also the beauty of what we can grow when we come together.

What to Expect

  • Art-making for children ages 3+ and families (younger siblings welcome, play space nearby)

  • We’ll provide: butterfly cutouts, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, and collage supplies

  • Feel free to bring your own materials to personalize your butterfly

  • Keep your butterfly as a family keepsake, or donate it to the community project

  • Donated butterflies will be displayed locally to honor what our community endured after September 2024 and celebrate our collective healing

Events are hosted by volunteer child & family psychologist and local artists who will be there to guide and support families.
